Our Staff
Dr. David Bussan
Dr. David Bussan started his career with Town & Country Animal Hospital in 1969 after doing undergraduate work and graduating from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and a lifetime member of ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association). Dr. Bussan grew up on a farm in Galena, Illinois where he was a member of the local 4-H and FFA clubs. He currently resides in Normal with his wife and two cats. In his free time he enjoys farming and gardening.
Dr. Ronald Goeckner
Since 1975 Dr. Ron Goeckner has been a veterinarian at Town & Country Animal Hospital. He grew up in Effingham, Illinois. In 1971 he graduated from Eastern Illinois University majoring in zoology and then went on to receive his D.V.M. from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1975. He is an active member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and the ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association). His greatest interest in the animal field is general medicine because of the vast variety. He now resides in Normal with his wife, two cats; Tawny and Precious Chloe, and his dog Squirt. He enjoys exploring foreign countries and fixing things in his spare time.
Dr. Melissa Alexander
Dr. Melissa Alexander grew up in Lincoln, Illinois. She received her D.V.M. in 1995 from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a member of AVMA (American Veterinary medical Association), ISVMA (Illinois Veterinary Medical Association) and AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners). She enjoys gardening, spending time with her family, cooking, reading, and scrapbooking in her spare time. She has 3 cats; Cheetah, Jackson and Tiger Lily.
Dr. Matt Bussan
Dr. Matt Bussan joined the Town & Country staff in 1990. In 2000 he received his B.S. in Chemistry from Illinois State University and then in 2004 graduated from University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine with his D.V.M. and is now on staff as a veterinarian. Dr. Bussan is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association). In his free time he enjoys playing and watching sports, reading, bike riding, traveling, and other outdoor activities with his wife Leila. He has a sheltie named Riley.
Dr. Jamie Schertz
Before joining the Town & Country family Dr. Schertz received her D.V.M. from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and then worked at a mixed animal practice. She is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and ISVMA (Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association). Dr. Schertz grew up in Northern Illinois but is currently living in Central Illinois with her husband and children. When not busy working or taking care of her family she enjoys horseback riding, swimming, reading and scrapbooking.
Dr. Ronda Furbeck
Dr. Ronda Furbeck started working at Town & Country in 2006 as a part-time veterinarian. In 1989 she graduated from Mississippi State University with her D.V.M. She has practiced in North Carolina and numerous Midwestern States and is now enjoying Central Illinois with her husband, daughters and Golden Retrievers. She enjoys quilting, reading and walking.
Dr. Al McMullen
In 2006 Dr. Al McMullen joined the Town & Country family as a part-time veterinary. He has been a practicing veterinary medicine since 1969 after earning his D.V.M. at University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. In his spare time he enjoys square dancing, bicycling, canoeing, backpacking, gardening, and cross-country hiking. He has three cats; Butchie, Bugsie and Marmalade. His wife and he are happy to be back in Illinois after thirty eight years in Massachusetts.
Tammi - Office Manager
Tammi started at Town & Country in 2006 as a receptionist, was then promoted to Head Receptionist and then to Office Manager. What she loves most about her job is
working with the clients, their pets and other employees. Her family
consists of her boyfriend; Danny and 3 children. When not working she
enjoys riding motorcycles, cruising in the Jeep, playing with her
children and hanging out with friends. She as 2 dogs; Lacey and Nika, 1
cat; Socks and many fish.
Jean- Inventory Manager
Jean received her Applied Associates Degree in Animal Health Technology from Colorado Mountain College, Glenwood Springs, Colorado, in 1975 and in has been (in her words) “Happily practicing as a Certified veterinary Technician ever since.” She has been with Town & Country since 1983 and became Inventory Manager in 1998. She loves any activity involving the outdoors especially hiking, biking, horseback riding and gardening. Her “furry” family consists of a Great Dane; Flynn, two Rat Terriers: Karma and Trooper and four cats; Zorba, Special Ed, Stella and Sugar Plum Fairy.
Bailey- Head Technician
Bailey has been the Head Technician at Town & Country since the Spring of 2007. She started her career with animals at the age of 15 working in the kennels, then worked a short period as a receptionist. In 2006 she graduated from Parkland Community College as a Certified Veterinary Technician. She shares her home with her husband, 2 dogs, 6 cats and 3 tanks of fish. She's rarely without a fuzzy critter by her side.
Diane - Head Receptionist
Diane started working as a receptionist before being promoted to Head Receptionist. What she enjoys most about her job is helping clients and developing a relationship with them. Diane has two children; a son who works and attends Heartland Community College and daughter who will be heading off to University of Wisconsin in Madison. She also has 2 dogs at home.
Kathy-Groomer
Kathy has been with Town & Country for over 7 years grooming you dogs and cats. Kathy can personalize your pet to fit your needs. Before coming to Illinois, in one way or another, Kathy has been associated with dogs in grooming, boarding, obedience and confirmation classes. Since 1986 in her spare time she has breed and shown Standard Schnauzer and in 1997 had the #1 Standard Schnauzer in the country.

Cathie
Cathie has been working at Town & Country since 1995. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Illinois State University in 1998. She shares her home with her husband and 2 cats, Funky Monkey and Machenzie. In her free time Cathie enjoys photography, exploring nature, listening to music and watching her husband play in his 3 bands.
Beth-Data Entry
Beth has played many different roles as an employee of Town & Country since 1998. She is a proud Military Mom and when not communicating with her son she enjoys spending time with her husband, three dogs and cats. She also likes to go hiking, reading and gardening.
